The Top Ten Most Disturbing Scenes I've Ever Seen in Movies

I'm a little bitch. Though I can watch most movies, no problem, there are certain scenes in certain movies that will have me shivering underneath my covers for weeks. Usually, it's long hair and scary faces that do me in, but it doesn't have to be. Below are the ten scenes that disturbed me so much that I seriously had a hard time sitting through the rest of the movie. You've been warned.

10. "I saw her face," in The Ring

(Image taken from: techdigest.tv)

The Ring starts off like like your normal horror film but only a little slower. That is, of course, until you see what the tape actually has the power to do to people. I seriously made an "Aiiiiieeee!" sound in the theater when I saw this. The rest of the movie wasn't nearly as bad, but that one scene...my God.

9. Willy Wonka boat ride to Hell

(Image taken from: diaryofacelluloidgirl.blogspot.com)

Willy Wonka is just your pleasant, everyday film about a boy winning an impossible magic ticket to a candy factory. It's really every kid's dream come true. Until you actually meet Mr. Wonka and realize that he's probably more interested in eating children rather than any of the actual candy in his factory. This scene in particular, with the millipede walking across the person's mouth, made me wet myself when I was younger. I seriously wet myself. I couldn't watch the movie again until I was a teenager, and even then I turned my head away from this scene.

8. "Winkies" scene from Mulholland Drive

(Image taken from: smalltowncritic.com)

The scene starts out strange, as with all David Lynch scenes, but gets progressively stranger when the two people talking about this one guy's dream actually decide to follow through on whether the dream will actually come true or not. Yeah, like that will, OH, MY GOD, IT WAS TRUE! Annnnnd, scene.

(Sorry about the weird noises in this clip. I couldn't find another one).

7. The "Nig bots" from Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

(Image taken from: crossdominatrix5.deviantart.com)

Okay, now, while what I like to call the nig bots of Transformers 2 didn't really scare me, they seriously disturbed me to the point that I wanted to walk out of the theater whenever I saw them. I can take racial stuff just fine. Say a black joke, and I'll probably laugh. But Michael Bay just took it too far with these characters. And who knows, they might not have even been black, but something about them really just rubbed me the wrong way. Every time they came on the screen I kept thinking, "Oh, boy, here come the nig bots again." It totally ruined what was already a pretty pathetic film for me. And that's just sad.

6. "Stairs and bed scene" in The Grudge

(Image taken from: nipponcinema.com)

Yes, I know. The Grudge is a cheaper version of The Ring. But damn, if I didn't find it scarier. You know that whole, long hair, scary face thing I was talking about earlier? Well, that's basically all The Grudge is, one scary scene after another. But this one scene in particular really did me in. I usually hide underneath the covers when I'm scared. So what happens then when the killer is actually underneath the covers you're hiding under? I don't even want to THINK about the possibility. In fact, I can't even watch the end of this clip if I want to sleep tonight. You're on your own.

5. Hallway scene in House on Haunted Hill

(Image taken from: amazon.co.uk)

I"m going to have to do a good job of explaining this scene. Okay, so House on Haunt Hill is one of those movies that might not be as scary as I remember it to be, but I'm too scared to watch it again to tell you if it isn't. Anyway, in this scene, a person is standing at the end of a hallway, just a silhouette and then, BAM, it runs toward the screen and screams INTO the camera. I swear to God, I was in a packed theater and I was getting the cold sweats after I saw that. It's SUCH a bad scene that I can't even watch the whole clip in completion. So instead, I put another scary scene below. This one is not as bad.

4. Mouth knocked off scene in The Orphanage

The whole movie of The Orphanage is pretty creepy. But the worst scene of them all (Which I can't even find for you, dammit) is when that creepy old woman who turns out to be the mother of Tomas gets hit by a car and HER MOUTH FALLS OFF BUT SHE STILL TRIES TALKING! What makes matters worse is that the camera pans in on her detached maw and stays there for like, forever. Nightmares...nightmares for weeks, I tell you. Here's just the trailer. Sorry, it's all I could find.

3. Final scene in Paranormal Activity

(Image taken from: kara.allthingsd.com)

Paranormal Activity blows. The whole thing is just one long cock tease. But oh, man. That last scene. *Shivers* And while I'd love to show it to you, all of the clips are disabled by request on Youtube. What a bummer. Here's a link if you want to see it. But be warned. It's pretty horrifying.

2. "DOROTHY GAAAAALE!" Scene in Return to Oz

Okay, now this is a, "Thank God I didn't see this when I was a kid," scene, as I would have had a heart attack and been found with crap stuck in my pants. Return to Oz is not like the original movie at all. The original movie is happy. The original movie is cheerful. The original movie leaves you feeling good at the end. The sequel on the other hand makes you want to kill yourself. I saw this scene as an adult knowing what I was going to see. But that still didn't keep me from having a nightmare that night about a legion of heads that open their eyes all at once and scream my name. I repeat, thank GOD I didn't see this when I was a kid.

1. The teaser trailer of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

(Image taken from: popbunker.net)

I will not see this movie when it comes out. Not when even the TEASER TRAILER keeps me up at night for a whole week. I saw that distorted face in my head every night before I went to bed. This is definitely the most scared and vulnerable I've ever felt in a movie theater, no question about it. I don't even remember what movie I saw that night, I was so scared. It totally ruined my entire evening. I still get chills just thinking about it. Ugh.

Honorable Mention: Strange looking boy getting an old woman face in The Passion of the Christ, Jack Nicholson being in the picture at the end of The Shining, the overall tone of The Butterfly Effect, and the bed scene in A Tale of Two Sisters
