#AMMconnect Bio

(Seen here: Father and son, enjoying our books together)

Wowza! My name is Richard B. Knight and I write lots of stuff, mostly entertainment articles. Many of my recent articles can be found here on Cinemablend.com. But my true passion is fiction, which I've been writing for well over a decade. I've self-published in the past, but I really want to go the traditional route now with an agent and everything. I've gotten a lot of great requests from agents, but I've never gotten fully picked up, and I'm hoping that AMM can really help me in that regard. Like, what am I missing? What can I do to truly get my foot in the door?

My current book (The one I hope is selected) is Middle Grade, and it's called Second Skin. It's about a boy who thinks he has the worst skin condition in the world, but it turns out that his skin is actually alien (He's half Martian/half Earthling). Now, he must use his skin to defend Earth against an evil cloud monster that is coming down to devour our planet. Outside of writing, I teach seventh graders, and I find that a lot of my students suffer from feeling like outcasts, just like the protagonist in my novel.

I think I'd make a great mentee since I'm super receptive to feedback. I'm also in two writer's groups and I'm always paying close attention to what my fellow writers have to say about my work, using their criticism to improve my writing. I also love to pay it forward, helping out other writers in any way I can. AMM sounds really great. I tried last year with another project, and I got excellent feedback from one of the mentors who didn't pick me. I also met a lot of great people, some of whom became crit partners for awhile. And...that's about it. If you're looking for a crit partner, please message me on twitter! Let's be friends!
